Dear Friends,
It is our pleasure to announce an exciting new effort to provide a quality education for Ethiopian children impacted by poverty. Students from the Tau Kappa Epsilon and Alpha Chi Omega fraternal organizations of the University of Maryland have decided to come together to make a difference for Ethiopian youth. The terrapin is the mascot for UMD and they are calling this event Terps for Ethiopia!
This fundraiser arose as a result of two UMD students, Jared and Asselefech who made a trip to Ethiopia last summer. They went, they sawÖand they were so impressed with the impact that certain nonprofit organizations have in Ethiopia that they wanted to help. The desire of these young people to make a difference and create a bridge from the youth of one culture to the youth of another is inspiring and stated like this: ìOur mission is to bring together the Maryland community to generate change where it is truly needed.î
The fundraiser will include a night of fun, delicious Ethiopian food, comedy, dancing, and a silent auction. All the proceeds will go to benefit Ethiopia Reads and The Fregenet Foundation. Please consider making a contribution today, and if you live in the Maryland area, be sure to attend this great event and help these college students be successful in making the lives of children better.
