Dear Friends and Supporters,
It’s not often we get such generous contributions. When we do, it gives us hope and our hearts are filled with joy. We are ecstatic to announce that Fregenet Kidan Lehitsanat School has received a 250,000 birr donation from Zemen Bank of Ethiopia. This donation is a much welcome support to our effort of educating the young generation of the underserved community in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
On May 27,2023, at the inaugural ceremony of the bank’s 32-story headquarters building on Ras Abebe Aregay St., Fregenet School is one of three, similar minded, nonprofit organizations of a worthy cause like ours, to receive Zemen Bank’s recognition. Zemen officials announced the donation to Fregenet at this ceremony.
The fanfare was extensively covered by local media. One of those covering was Capital newspaper. According to the paper, the event was attended by high-ranking government officials. Among those attending were Mamo Mihretu, Governor of National Bank of Ethiopia and various other government officials. The paper goes on to say that “…Zemen’s new building rests on 2,300 sq meters of land. Established in 2008, Zemen’s paid up capital stands at 4.7 billion birr. In the 2021/22 budget year Zemen Bank has registered a profit of 2.1 billion birr before taxes”.
The Fregenet School can proudly testify that Zemen Bank is one the premier, profitable, and modern banks of Ethiopia. Since its establishment in 2008, it has paid substantial dividends to its shareholders, at the same time fulfilling its corporate and social responsibilities.
