10-Year Anniversary Marathon Run Completed

October 28, 2013

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I announce to you my completion of the Twin Cities Marathon from Minneapolis to St. Paul on October 6, 2013. As I said in my earlier release, I participated in this marathon to honor the life and commemorate the tragic death of my daughter Fregenet, who passed in Minneapolis in July 2003.

The event was a wonderful experience. Early in the morning, though the weather was gloomy and hazy and featured intermittent rain, the conditions proved to be perfect for runners like myself and my cousin Abebaw Yilma, who joined me on this occasion. In addition to the memories of a wonderful experience, we also received the official marathon t-shirt and medal of completion, both featuring the Maple tree logo of the event. Congratulations to Abebaw for improving his personal time by over 20 minutes!

Time flies fast and it has already been 10 years since we lost our beloved daughter Fregenet. However, her dream of providing free education to underprivileged children continues through the foundation named after her. I would like to take this opportunity to announce that we have already started brainstorming how to celebrate the 10-year journey of our foundation since we first opened our school to the initial class of 31 kindergarten students in the fall of 2004.

In a couple of months we will announce the official launch of the 10-year anniversary preparation committee, and there will be a variety of exciting ways to get involved. Be sure to stay tuned!

Thank you very much,

Tafesse Woubshet
