Fregenet Denbi Elementary School Construction Update

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are very excited to take this moment to inform you of the progress of our Bishoftu Project. You will kindly recall that it has been a few months since construction began on Fregenet Denbi Elementary School.

Since we broke ground, work has progressed against all odds and challenges posed by the pandemic. The ground structure is complete and columns are now emerging on the upper floor. We have so far paid 60% of the construction cost and thus 40% of the payment remains. 

We rely on your generous support to cover this remaining amount and complete construction so that we may begin receiving students in the upcoming 2021 academic year. 

Meanwhile, our Fregenet Kidan LeHitsanat School will soon resume in-person instruction while taking all necessary precaution to protect the health of our students, their parents and the school staff. We ask our supporters to not only send their sponsorship support but also encourage new friends to sponsor students to cover the cost for their education, daily meals, school uniforms, and other student resources. 

What the pandemic has shown over this past year is the power of the human spirit, of the spirit of togetherness, empathy and solidarity which enables us to overcome challenges we face and succeed in our endeavor to improve the human condition, especially of people who are deprived of the most basic of resources to meet their needs and create a better life for themselves and their children. 

It is the longstanding commitment of good people and their unflinching support over the past fifteen years that have brought all our plans and objectives for expanding education to children from limited backgrounds to fruition. We are forever grateful for your empathy and solidarity in the fight against child illiteracy, which is key to all the fights against injustice, poverty, and inequality. 

We have profound trust in your support as we aim to bring this new and exciting Bishoftu Project to the finish line. We understand it may be a tough time for you – for all of us – in light of the current public health crisis and economic paralysis but we also strongly believe that we will get through this together protecting ourselves, protecting others and helping those in need as much as we can.
