Appreciation of 10 Years support

The Fregenet Foundation would like to thank its many supporters.  Without our friends and their generous gifts, cough the organization would not exist.  From the bottom of our hearts, generic thank you for believing in this vision we share.  In particular, from inception of the foundation, Latham and Watkins as well as Jones Day have guided us through the legal and business issues on a pro bono basis.  Feleke Teka has contributed immensely by keeping our accounting transparent and efficient.   And of course, we are grateful for the partnerships with Global Fund for Children, Three Graces Foundation, The Katella Wellness Center, USA for Africa, and Aid for Africa.

We are especially grateful for Teresa and Jim Mitchum, Dr. Etsegenet Ayele and Mengistu Yemane Berhane, Elisa Lee and Eric Ekstrom, Meriam Surafel and Samson Kassaye, Dr. Frew Negatu, and many others, for their generous financial contributions.  Without their assistance during our most critical time of need, we could not have paid our staff, fed the kids or allocated seed money for the construction of our new school.

These organizations and individuals have given Fregenet Foundation credibility and visibility.  Their financial endorsement and programmatic efforts have been invaluable to keep our school operating.

We are equally blessed by the dedication of our extended family, board of directors and lifelong friends.  These individuals have championed tireless fundraising campaigns.  They have run with us in the LA Marathons.  They have soared with us in the good times and limped along with us during challenging and frustrating times.  Friends in Addis Abeba have taken the burden of running the day-to-day activities of the school.  In particular, we want to honor, Zerihun Tadesse, Andualem Fantahun, Aster Hailu and especially Bizualem Huluka who have served as security guards, janitor and a preschool teacher since day one. For Bizualem, this is most personal as she was Fregenet’s friend from childhood.
