March 3, 2021

Dear Friends and Supporters,

On February 13, 2021, Fregenet Kidan Lehitsanat Board of Directors, local supporters and officials of the Bishoftu Education Bureau paid a visit to the construction site of the future Fregent Dembi Elementary School. The objective of the visit was to check the status of the school’s construction activity and use the venue for consultation on the future of the project.

It makes us truly happy to inform you that all those who were present were impressed by the progress of the work and convinced that the completion of the school project would not be far away.

Visitors were able to confirm that ceiling or roof, block and floor works were fully done and cementing the floors was completed, all to their great satisfaction. The next phase in the project is to finish work on few remaining superstructures works and then start the finishing segment. On this occasion, luncheon and refreshments were served.

The officials from the Bishoftu Education Bureau, in particular, were very much encouraged by the significant headway the construction work has made over the last few months despite the many hurdles along the way. They seized the occasion to express their joy in the fruitful relationship they have built with the Foundation and reiterate their full commitment to the project’s successful completion. As a demonstration of their satisfaction and recognition of the Foundation’s contribution to the expansion of education in their district, the Bureau awarded the Fregenet school  with a  Certificate of Recognition and a big gold color trophy.

In addition, local board members of the Fregenet Foundation, and representatives from Flintstone Engineering and the contractor held a meeting following the site visit and unanimously agreed to expedite the remaining construction work as much as possible. To that effect, they set a deadline to complete all construction activity by April 30, 2021. What then remains to officially launch the new school is to just furnish the classrooms, the library, the computer lab, the cafeteria, the clinic and the school compound with playground materials.

Needless to say, this is really an exciting and worthy undertaking and we, like all of you, our esteemed supporters, are looking forward with great anticipation to the date when we will officially open the gates of the school to a new generation of young students. This day is getting closer. We take this opportunity to sincerely thank you, for standing by with us from the beginning of the project up to now.

We hope you will continue to extend your support so that we all can realize our collective goal of expanding education to young children who, because of their unfortunate backgrounds, have been denied this most basic but crucial human right that many takes for granted.

Thank you very much!

The Fregenet Foundation
