The Fregenet marathon is 26 days away and all set to take place in the dynamic city of LA. Fregenet marathon??? Apologies for a big mistake, to be sure. Coming up is the one and only LA marathon. But perhaps you can forgive some of us who have come to think of this event as something different, something personal, something that is a vehicle to transform the lives of some very special people.
On March 16 and 17 thousands of runners from points far and near will gather at the starting line. A chosen few, Teresa Garcia, Tafesse Woubshet, Hirut Dagnew, Hailu Solomon, Sophia Elias, Tabi Hiwot, Biruk Sherif have registered earlier to run the 5K and the 26.2 miles, for the students at Fregenet School. Achieving a new personal best or, in some cases, just finishing the race will be on the minds of each runner this year. The desires of our runners can only be fully realized through the actions of those of us on the sidelines. Please consider sponsoring a runner this year. Your contributions are critical to the opportunities of some special students who deserve a chance to make something of their lives and break out of poverty.
