Fregenet School Students Health Care

February 4, 2015

Fregenet Kidan Lehitsanat School was visited by a group of volunteer doctors for the fourth time. This years’ (2014/15) visit was carried out on Saturday January 30, 2015 from 9 A.M to 1 P.M.

On this occasion three medical doctors, Dr. Kalkidan Alachew, Dr. Hiywot Belachew and Dr. Selam Abera came to carefully examine specially selected students from all grades. All KG1 students were automatically selected in order to establish a baseline health status as they join us. Then we identified 5 of the highest needs students from each grade, KG2 through grade 4. The main factors for selection in the later grades (KG2 through grade 4) were issues of frequent health complaints or symptoms as reported by the children or observed by the teachers.

A total of 50 students were examined, 18 of which were given prescriptions for medicine. Nine students were referred for further laboratory check-ups to determine the problem and the rest, 23 children, were recommended for minor check-ups and follow-up visits.

Those children who were identified as having health problems and given medical prescriptions will be financially assisted by the school to immediately access the needed medicines.

Fregenet Kidan Lehitsanat School and The Fregenet Foundation, together, would like to expresses our highest gratitude to the above mentioned wonderful volunteer young doctors, for their remarkable deeds and commitment to our students.
